Course Information

Session 1 & 2 Course Level 1:

This program accommodates students at zero level of Spanish proficiency. It is intended for students with little or no prior experience in the language. Students who want to learn Spanish, but have not taken any classes yet in the Spanish language will benefit from this program. This level 1 program will help students master basic Spanish language skills so that a college student can advance quicker or test out of their college language requirement or a business person can use the language in their job. This course is also designed for anyone who wants to effectively acquire and have command of the Spanish Language in a short period of time.

Session 1 & 2  Course Level 2:

This program accommodates students that have completed  an Beginner or Low Intermediate Spanish level. This level 2 program will help students advance to an Intermediate/Upper Intermediate language proficiency level so that students can test out of their college language requirement or advance in their Spanish Language skills while being completely immersed in a Spanish speaking country.

All students will take Spanish language courses that are student centered focusing on the skills of writing, reading, speaking, and listening using ACTFL Language Learning Standards.

Students will be actively engaged every day in learning, practice, and application of knowledge, while the teacher facilitates this process.  As a student, you’ll be responsible for your own learning and the learning of the entire class, which is accomplished through hard work and a positive attitude. Students may enroll in overlapping, back-to-back summer sessions. If you are doing this for college credit, and your home university does not give you credits for the course, then most institutions allow you to test out of the language requirement or allow you to take a placement exam for a higher-level class. There are other exams available to receive credits or leveled recognition such as CLEP, DELE (diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language), or the NYU 12 point or 16 point foreign language examination. You will also receive a certificate upon completion of the course.
